Mr Trevor St Baker AO, a member of the Board of Directors of NOVONIX Ltd and major shareholder of the company through the St Baker Energy Innovation Fund, has been honoured today by the University of Queensland with the award of Doctor of Engineering, honoris causa.
The award was bestowed by the Senate of The University of Queensland and recognises Mr St Baker’s life-long contribution to the energy sector.
It also recognises Mr St Baker’s considerable commercial achievements including the founding of ERM Power Ltd, Sunset Power International, the St Baker Energy Innovation Trust and SMR Nuclear Technology. Through the St Baker Energy Innovation Fund, Mr St Baker has invested in and provided mentoring to a number of disruptive Australian technology companies that are seeking to commercialise low-carbon energy solutions, including NOVONIX Ltd.
Mr St Baker and his wife Judith are also generous philanthropists who have supported a number of causes, including skin cancer research, the arts and Indigenous education.
In 2020, Mr St Baker was awarded the Officer of the Order of Australia “for distinguished service to business and commerce as a leader and executive in the energy sector, and through philanthropic support for a range of health, arts and Indigenous youth programs”.
